Natural Relief for Sciatica Symptoms in Gold Coast
Why focusing only on the piriformis muscle isn't enough
Many people find that while direct massage to the piriformis muscle provides temporary relief, the pain and discomfort often return.
Generally, because the sciatic nerve runs directly through or right underneath the piriformis muscle, tightness in this muscle is considered the most direct cause of the discomfort.
However, at our clinic, we focus on why that tightness happens in the first place. We approach these symptoms by assessing the Lumbo-Pelvic Complex (the connection between your lower back and pelvis).
When deep muscles in the lower back (such as the multifidus) become chronically tight, they can create a domino effect—pulling on the ligaments and forcing the gluteal and piriformis muscles to overcompensate.
Through Japanese Bodywork and Meridian Therapy, we aim to address these underlying structural tensions and restore natural balance to the body, supporting long-term symptom management.
