What is seitai treatment?
Seitai is a traditional Japanese manual therapy, similar to osteopathy, but with many different styles.
In recent years, traditional seitai has been studied by physiotherapists, chiropractors, and acupuncturists,
leading to the development of techniques based on anatomy and exercise physiology.
Among these, I am particularly interested in a style that resets the system without impact,
as defensive reflexes can interfere with the treatment.
Modern seitai is a therapy that approaches muscles, joints, and acupoints to reboot the body’s control systems.
One basic technique I use to calm the sympathetic nervous system is rotating the wrist outward.
Since we often work with our palms facing down and looking downward,
turning the palm upward sends a signal to the brain that the body is upright, facing forward, and with arms open.
This action is similar to the posture used when taking a deep breath, leading to a sense of relaxation.
Since it doesn’t involve massage, stretching, or adjustments, modern seitai is neither osteopathy nor chiropractic.
